Glenn Philips Hails Angelo Perera and Matheesha Pathirana Despite the Loss Against Dambulla Thunders

The cricket world is experiencing another thrilling edition of the Lanka Premier League. In the last match, fans witnessed a thrilling fixture between Dambulla Sixers and Colombo Strikers. The Colombo Strikers faced an unfortunate defeat in the game. Angelo Perera and Matheesha Pathirana played well. After that defeat, Glenn Philips praised them for their exciting performances.

Perera’s Excellence and Phillips’ Praise:

In the 10th match of the ongoing Lanka Premier League, Colombo Strikers and Dambulla Sixers locked horns. While batting in the first innings, the openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Angelo Perera gave a positive start. At that point, Angelo Perera missed his well-deserved half-century but played an impactful knock of 41 runs in 27 balls with a strike rate of 151.85. That knock gave a huge boost to the innings.

While praising Perera, Glenn Phillips said, “Today’s wicket was rather good. Angelo Perera did a fantastic job of giving us a flying start. But I also want to say that even though we ultimately lost, Matheesha was excellent and the way he bowled in the final over helped us out.”

Later he added, “I think the way other boys batted around me helped. For me, it is about facing every bowl as its comes down. It greatly eased the task of keeping the runs going.”

Lauding Pathirana:

In the last match, Matheesha Pathirana was wicketless. While bowling in the second innings, he conceded 49 runs in 3.5 overs with an economy rate of 12.78. Even after this performance, Glenn Phillips praised his talent. He said, “I thought Matheesha was outstanding. It is of course a game of small matches and his bowling performance under duress was absolutely superb. Three knocks are all that matters in a bounce and Matheesha’s over relied heavily on it.”

Pathirana’s Strategy for Future Matches:

Facing defeat was a setback for them but young bowler Matheesha Pathirana is confident for the upcoming matches. While revealing his strategy, Pathirana said, “My plan is bowling dot balls as my team also supported the same in the over. I will try and employ it even better in the coming days.”

In the last match, he conceded 18 runs in the last over. While talking about the pressured situation, he said, “To be honest I am not giving it too much thought, I am just trying to carry out the strategy. Should it succeed, I will have command over the game if not my bowling will suffer.”
