Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari is catching the headlines quite a few times now. But that is because of the things beyond cricket. His issue with the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association grabbed the attention. Vihari pointed at the association. Nearly a month subsequent to his online criticism directed at the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari received a show-cause notice from the association. And the reports are saying, Hanuma Vihari has already replied to that.
The Issue With Vihari:
Hanuma Vihari, following Andhra’s narrow quarter-final loss against Madhya Pradesh in the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy, expressed his frustration on Instagram, declaring he would “never play for Andhra” again due to the treatment he received from the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). Vihari alleged that he was compelled to step down as captain after the opening-round match against Bengal, attributing it to political interference. Despite leading the team to a remarkable performance of chasing 410 against Bengal, he claimed that a dispute with the 17th player, who later complained to his politician father, led to the association taking action against him.
ACA’s Show-Cause Notice to Vihari:
About a month following Hanuma Vihari’s allegations of political interference leading to his removal as Andhra captain, the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) issued a notice to him. A source from the association talked about that. He said, “Yes, we have served him a show-cause notice and we are awaiting his reply. This is just to find what made him react the way he did last month.”
Later he added, “He has not reached out to us, so this is a chance for him to come out with his grievances. After all, we value Vihari and his contributions to the growth of state cricket as he has played a big part in Andhra going up in the ranks in domestic cricket.”
Vihari’s Reply:
According to reports, Vihari’s email response to the ACA was dated March 25, the same day the ACA had sent him the email. Hanuma Vihari has replied to the Andhra Cricket Association’s (ACA’s) show-cause notice, asserting that he disclosed the factual details regarding the “unjust” treatment he received. Additionally, he requested the ACA to furnish him with a no-objection certificate, enabling him to seek opportunities with another team for the upcoming Indian domestic season.
