Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari is finally able to play for other teams as the Andhra Cricket Association player obtained a no objection certificate from the board.Â
In March, the ACA had served a show-cause notice to Vihari after the Test cricketer accused the governing body of unceremoniously removing him from captaincy and vowed not to play for the state again.
This NOC has been provided after the ACA had served a show-cause notice to Vihari. This notice was served to the test-cricketer after he accused the governing body of being unceremonious in removing him as the captain. Vihari had also made a vow to never play for the state again.
Hanuma Vihari gets NOC, Shares post on X
Vihari posted on X that he had been asking for the NOC for two months and finally received it on Monday. This somehow points fingers at the ACA as getting an NOC does not require time as long as 2 months.
According to common regulations, a player must obtain permission from his home association to play for other states in domestic cricket.
“I have been asking for NOC for two months, mailed them four times. Didn’t give my NOC. Now things have turned, they have issued my NOC immediately,” Vihari’s X post stated.
Hanuma was allegedly referring to TDP’s massive win in the state elections, and that somehow worked in his favour.
In the NOC, ACA secretary Gopinath Reddy stated that “Andhra Cricket Association has no objection for Hanuma Vihari to represent any other association affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India as a player from the 2024-25 season onwards”.
More on the disagreement
Hanuma Vihari had previously shared an Instagram post stating his captaincy was lost due to political influence. Apparently, he was no longer kept as the state team’s captain after political pressure from the father of one of his teammates.
“I was captain in the first game against Bengal, and during the game, I shouted at the 17th player, and he complained to his dad (who is a politician),” Vihari wrote.
“His dad in return asked the association to take action against me. Although we chased 410 against last year’s finalists Bengal [for a first-innings lead], I was asked to resign from captaincy without any fault of mine.
“I never said anything on a personal note to the player, but the association thought the player was more important than the guy who gave his body on the line last year and batted left-handed, took Andhra to the knockouts five times in the last seven years and played for India in 16 Tests,” Vihari’s post added.
Following these allegations, the Andhra Cricket Association had questioned Vihari and served him with a show-cause notice.
Hanuma has finally obtained an NOC from the association after 2 months and a change in the government.Â
