The IPL is all set to come back in the Indian sub-continent. The tournament is all set to start on March 22. All teams are preparing hard for the upcoming season. After recovering from the injury, Hardik Pandya is all set to lead Mumbai in this season. Before IPL, Pandya was seen playing the DY Patil T20 tournament in Mumbai.
Injury and Setback of India:
The Injury happened in the league stage match of the World Cup against Bangladesh. The all-rounder from Baroda faced a challenge when attempting to prevent a shot from Bangladesh’s opener, Liton Das. Unfortunately, in the process, he lost his balance, and his right boot dragged on the pitch upon landing. Displaying signs of discomfort, he quickly got up but had to stand on his haunches. Following the incident, Pandya was swiftly taken to the National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation. Regrettably, due to the extent of the injury, he had to be ruled out of the entire World Cup. This turn of events was a setback for both the player and the team, as they had to adjust their strategies and lineup without the valuable contribution of the Baroda all-rounder.
The injury was serious and threw him out of cricket for months. He missed the five-match T20 series against Australia at home, the entire South Africa, and the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan. Even he is missing out on the ongoing five-match Test series against England. But he is ready to come back in the IPL 2024.
Hardik in DY Patil T20 Tournament:
Hardik Pandya marked his eagerly awaited comeback to competitive cricket during the DY Patil T20 tournament, commencing on Monday. In this tournament, Pandya is leading the Reliance 1 team, currently pitted against Bharat Petroleum at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy Cricket Ground in Navi Mumbai. Notably, alongside Pandya, the Reliance playing XI includes Tilak Verma, Nehal Wadhera, and Piyush Chawla from the Mumbai Indians squad. However, there’s a notable absence in the form of Ishan Kishan, who hasn’t been listed in the team lineup.
The anticipation surrounding Pandya’s return has been met with excitement, as fans eagerly await his performance on the field. His role as captain for the Reliance 1 team adds an extra layer of intrigue to the tournament, as spectators are keen to see how he leads the squad in this competitive setting.
Among the Mumbai Indians contingent, the inclusion of players like Tilak Verma, Nehal Wadhera, and Piyush Chawla brings depth and experience to the Reliance 1 lineup. Their presence alongside Pandya strengthens the team’s chances in the tournament and adds to the overall excitement surrounding the matches.
