Hardik Pandya’s Trade with Mumbai Indians:
This year’s IPL auction was one of the most action-packed ones. This edition has seen the highest purchase in the history of the tournament. But the retention and trading period was also an interesting one. Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians. That trade broke the internet. This also created a lot of buzz.
Mumbai Indians released Hardik Pandya after the 2021 IPL. Then in the 2022 auction, Gujarat Titans picked him from the auction and named him captain of their franchise. Under his captaincy, the franchise won its maiden IPL trophy. After being traded to Mumbai Indians this year, he has been named the captain of Mumbai Indians.
Mohammad Shami’s Words:
After Hatrdik’s trade, a lot of questions were raised on this matter. People were talking about the impact on the franchise after Hardik Pandya’s trade to Mumbai Indians. Recently, Mohammad Shami won the Arjuna Award. The pacer was asked about this matter and he shared his view.
He said, “Kiso ko kisi ke kahin jane se koi fark nahi padta. No one cares about anyone (Hardik Pandya) leaving the franchise. Hardik wanted to leave and he left. He did well as a captain as Gujarat made it to the final twice and also won the title once. He wasn’t tied up to Gujarat for a lifetime.”
After Hardik Pandya’s trade, Shubman Gill has been named as the captain of the Gujarat Titans. There is a wide space for Gill to become an experienced leader in the future. On this matter, Shami said, “ Shubman Gill will also become experienced and there is a possibility of him playing for another franchise in the future. You can’t stop anyone as it is part and parcel of the game.”
