Harmanpreet Kaur’s future as India’s captain was put in question. Buzz was going over her role in the upcoming series against New Zealand women. But as the BCCI announced the squad, Harmanpreet Kaur will continue her captain stint.

Buzz Over Harmanpreet Kaur’s Captaincy:

Harmanpreet Kaur took charge of India’s T20 team in 2016, succeeding Mithali Raj. Under her leadership, the team has participated in four T20 World Cups, reaching the semi-finals twice, in 2018 and 2023, and advancing to the final in 2020. However, this time around, India faced an early exit in the league stage.

India began their latest tournament campaign with a disappointing 58-run loss to New Zealand. The team rebounded with two consecutive victories, but their hopes were dashed when they lost to the Australian women’s team. Despite the overall team struggles, Harmanpreet delivered an impressive individual performance throughout the T20 World Cup. She was the top scorer for India, amassing 150 runs across four matches, boasting an average of 150 and a strike rate of 134.

Harmanpreet shone with remarkable half-centuries in her last two games and remained unbeaten in three of the matches. Despite her stellar performance, speculation has arisen regarding her future as the captain of Team India, sparking discussions among fans and analysts alike.
