Sunrisers Hyderabad’s decision of roping in the service of Harry Brook was hailed by many in the mini auction ahead of the IPL 2023. Brook who was bought for INR 13.25 crore was one of the players to look up to this IPL. However, his performance in the first week has not been an impressive one so far and fans cannot stop trolling him.
The young England star Harry Brook had scored 264 runs for Lahore Qalandars in eight innings during the Pakistan Super League, 2022. His stunning performance included a century as well as he batted at a strike rate above 171. In Test cricket he has added 809 runs to his name across 10 innings with four hundreds and three fifties. His appearance has mesmerized all and everyone was sure of him having a cracking IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad. No wonder fans were sure of Brooks justifying the price in the mini-auction especially following Ben Stokes praising the batter after the Multan Test century.
Stokes said, “He’s one of those rare players that you look across all formats and you can just see him being successful everywhere. It’s a massive shout, but Virat Kohli is one of those guys where his technique is just so simple and works everywhere. The pressure that he puts back onto opposition is exactly what we’re about.”
Unfortunately, it has been a week into the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. He could score only 16 runs in last two innings as However, Brook has failed to announce his arrival in IPL 2023, managing only 16 runs in two innings. Fans who have waited for stunning batting from Brook, now are all over social media commenting about his failure. Some of them have drawn comparisons between PSL and IPL as well.
