The much-awaited battle of India and Australia is set to begin this Sunday with the first ODI scheduled to be played at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. A delighting news has emerged for all the Indian cricket lovers. The ‘Voice of Indian Cricket’ Harsha Bhogle has been included as a part of the commentary team for the Australian tour of India.
He was controversially removed from the commentary panel by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the 2016 World T20 that was held in India. The cricket expert was criticized for praising the Bangladeshi players over the Indian players in a league match between the 2 countries.
The trigger point of his exclusion is believed to be a tweet from the Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan that was directed at the Indian commentators where he asked them to talk more about the Indian players rather than the foreign players. What gave the wind to the controversy was the retweet of MS Dhoni where he agreed with Mr. Bachchan.
Harsha Bhogle was then removed from the commentary panel and was missing from the scheme of things for quite a while. He remained connected with the fans through a cricket website. The fans loved his analysis through his videos which proved his popularity amongst the cricketing fraternity.
This year, he was included back in the Hindi commentary panel for the Indian Premier League and then went on to host the shows and commentate on Indian tours of Windies and Sri Lanka. Bhogle will commentate for an Indian home game for the first time after the 2016 World T20.
He took to Twitter to announce the good news of him joining the commentary panel. He wrote, “Very excited at joining the commentary team for #INDvsAUS. Looking forward to a really good series.” The cricket lovers will once again be treated to his unmatched analysis of the game.
