Veteran Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has defended Azam Khan, criticizing those who have recently mocked and body-shamed him. Latif condemned the trolls, showing support for the under-fire player.

Rashid Latif Backed Azam Khan:

The war of the T20 World Cup has started. All teams are giving the best to achieve their final goal. Before stepping into the T20 World Cup, Pakistan faced England in a T20 series. That was a disaster for them. During that tour, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan faced harsh criticism. In the T20 series against England, he didn’t play well and was not flexible behind the stumps. Cricket fans started body-shaming the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter on social media after his difficult performance against England, where he struggled behind the wickets and missed several catches.

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has defended Azam Khan, criticizing those who have mocked and body-shamed him. He said, “He is under immense pressure. He is being body-shamed, is being trolled. Azam is an exceptional batsman in T20s. He is a clean hitter, plays spinners well, has worked on his game against the pacers. I feel bad for the kid, he is only 25. He doesn’t deserve to be trolled like this.”

Suggesting Rizwan as the Wicketkeeper:

Pakistan announced their T20 World Cup after all the teams. Babar Azam is back in leading the team. They are gearing up well for the tournament. Mohammad Rizwan is also there in the team. He has a good track record of doing well behind the stumps for the nation. Rashid Latif recommended that Pakistan should give the wicketkeeping role to Mohammad Rizwan, whom he believes is superior to Azam Khan.

The former Pakistani player said, “Rizwan is Pakistan’s best keeper and has been a warrior for this team. Wicketkeepers run the game from behind the stumps. It is not only about DRS but the other facets of the game as well. Now he is fielding in the deep, which is wrong.”

Later he added, “Babar doesn’t have that captaincy acumen, he needs Rizwan and if Rizwan is not Pakistan’s keeper, Pakistan will struggle in the World Cup.”
