Heartbreaking Loss for India, Nisha Dahiya Leads but Injures Finger and Faced a Narrow Loss

Nisha Dahiya’s defeat in the last game is the latest example of it. India’s Nisha Dahiya faced disappointment in her women’s 68 kg freestyle quarter-final match, losing in the final moments of the game.

Nisha’s Amazing Display:

Nisha Dahiya started her quarter-final match with strong focus and confidence. She quickly gained a 4-0 lead against North Korea’s Gum Sol Pak. Nisha effectively used her skills to control the match, and Pak struggled to find a way to counter her moves. Nisha maintained her advantage through the first half of the bout.

Pak did manage to score a point, but she also gave away two points, which allowed Nisha to extend her lead to 6-1. With time running out and needing to catch up, Pak became more aggressive in her attempts to close the gap.

Nisha took advantage of the North Korean wrestler’s desperation. She scored two more points, bringing her lead to 8-1. This strong performance in the first period set Nisha up with a comfortable advantage as the match continued.

The Setback:

With 33 seconds left in the match, Nisha Dahiya was clearly in pain and requested medical help. After receiving treatment, she chose to continue the bout. However, she struggled due to shoulder soreness and was not able to perform at her best.

During the final moments, North Korea’s Gum Sol Pak took advantage of Nisha’s condition. Pak scored seven points in just 12 seconds, leveling the score. With less than 10 seconds remaining, Pak made a decisive move and secured a takedown, winning the match 10-8.

Following the match, Nisha was overcome with emotion and cried as she was helped out of the arena by her coaches. Despite the loss, Nisha still has a chance to compete for a medal in the repechage round, depending on Pak’s performance in her semifinal and final matches.
