As the 65th match of IPL 2024 approaches, the Rajasthan Royals are preparing to face off against the Punjab Kings at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. While the Royals have already secured their spot in the playoffs, the Kings are out of contention for the top four. However, a significant change has occurred for the Royals before this match—Jos Buttler will not be participating. This article will delve into the details behind Buttler’s absence, shedding light on the circumstances leading to this decision. Find out why Jos Buttler is missing from today’s IPL 2024 clash against PBKS.
Jos Buttler Misses Out:
After winning the toss, the Rajasthan Royals skipper announced his decision and mentioned that key player Jos Buttler would be absent from today’s match against the Punjab Kings. With the IPL season nearing its conclusion and the T20 World Cup on the horizon, players will soon return to their respective countries to prepare for the international stage. Jos Buttler has already flown back to England to fulfill his national duties ahead of the World Cup.
England is set to play a T20I series against Pakistan just before the World Cup kicks off, requiring Buttler’s presence. Consequently, he will miss the remaining IPL matches to focus on his commitments with the England team. This strategic move highlights the balance players must maintain between league responsibilities and national team obligations, particularly as major tournaments approach. Tom Kohler-Cadmore comes in place of Jos Buttler.
Toss Update:
After winning the toss, the Rajasthan Royals have chosen to bat first in their match against the Punjab Kings. This strategic decision sets the stage for an exciting contest as they aim to set a formidable target. The Royals will be looking to capitalize on their batting strength and put pressure on the Punjab Kings right from the start.
RR Skipper Sanju Samson said, “ We’ll bat first in these conditions. This is a second home for us, we have spend quite a bit of time here. We spent two days to assess on whether there is dew, and there isn’t any. The team, the batting and bowling unit are doing great. Everyone is chill and we are excited to come out and play a great game of cricket. (On securing qualification) I’d be lying if I say no, the camp looks a lot more relaxed. We’ll miss Jos and Kohler-Cadmore comes in, and we might have Ferreira as an impact sub later.”
