However, just before the game’s commencement, a fascinating twist unfolds for India, promising an intriguing start to their journey in the tournament. Find out why Sanju Samson is missing from today’s T20 World Cup 2024 clash against IRE.
Sanju Samson Misses Out the First Match:
In India’s inaugural World Cup match against Ireland, the toss was won by India, and they opted to field first. Following the toss, team captain Rohit Sharma revealed that the talented player Sanju Samson would not be participating in the game against Ireland. This decision was a strategic move made by the team management.
They opted to include Rishabh Pant in the playing XI over Sanju Samson, citing his performance in the previous warm-up match as the deciding factor. The team’s choice reflects their focus on selecting the best combination for the match against Ireland, aiming to start their World Cup campaign on a positive note.
After the toss skipper Rohit Sharma said, “ We’re going to bowl. Preparations have been alright. Have been managing ourselves in these new conditions. Has been challenging but we are all professionals. We played on a similar pitch and do know what to expect a little bit. I know it’s going to be slightly different from what we’re used to. But that’s what the sport is. Not sure about the conditions too much, so thought having a target in front of us would be good. Guys missing out are Kuldeep, Sanju, Jaiswal and one more.”
India’s Playing XI:
Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj
