King’s Absence Against the USA:

The 2024 T20 World Cup has already wrapped 40 exciting group stage matches, and now the Super Eight stage is ramping up the excitement. In the sixth match of this stage, hosts USA and West Indies are gearing up for a thrilling encounter. Both teams are eagerly anticipating a high-stakes clash. However, the West Indies have encountered a significant setback for this match, which could impact their performance against the USA.

Their trusted player Brandon King is missing out on the game against the USA. Brandon King sustained a side strain during the Super 8 opener against England on June 19. He had to leave the field after scoring 23 runs off 13 balls. Cricket West Indies (CWI) promptly updated King’s status on social media, indicating the seriousness of the injury and the requirement for additional scans. Although King traveled with the team to Barbados, the scans revealed the extent of the injury, ruling him out of further participation in the tournament.

In this match, Shai Hope is replacing him in the playing xi. Hope played the match against Afghanistan. In that match, he scored 25 runs in 17 balls. He can be a big asset in the middle order.

Toss Update:

As the fans are anticipating for a thrilling encounter between both the hosts, West Indies won the toss and chose to field first in this match. After winning the toss, Powell said,  “ We are going to bowl first. Looks a pretty good wicket, inclement weather as well. We’ll look to bowl well and take instructions from there. Our destination in our hands. Today provides us an opportunity to get back to winning ways. We have been batting well as a team. We were lacking a bit of intensity in the middle overs in the previous game. Romario misses out, in comes McCoy. King has been ruled out and in comes Shai Hope.”
