Match 16 for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is being played between South Africa and the Netherlands at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first, and Netherlands has currently been batting to muster up a good enough score for SA to chase later in the second innings.
Gerald Coetzee out of the match
While South Africa announced their playing XI for today’s match, it was shocking to note that the team has left out their 23 year old right-arm fast bowler, Gerald Coetzee.
Coetzee could have been an asset, but the team might have left him out considering the slow pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

Aiden Markram chooses to bowl first
South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl first. He defended his decision by sharing how the team needs to get an early info about the pitch and the wicket.
“We’re going to bowl. Seeing a few games on this wicket, ideally want to have a first crack on it. The wicket looks slightly different to be honest. But overall, not expecting it to be a belter. We’ve seen in the WC alone, can’t take any team lightly. It’s a big game for us. Same team.” Markram said.
