In a crucial clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to host Sanju Samson‘s Rajasthan Royals as both teams look to secure their spots in the playoffs of IPL 2024. Find out why Mustafizur Rahman is missing from today’s IPL 2024 clash against RR.
With Kolkata Knight Riders already securing a playoff berth, Rajasthan Royals are next in line to qualify. CSK, on the other hand, will be looking to reignite their playoff hopes with a victory over Rajasthan. It promises to be an exciting contest as both teams aim for a crucial win in their IPL campaign.
Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals elected to bat first. Rajashthan made one change to thier lineup. Dhruv Jurel came back after missing the last match. For Chennai, Theekshana is back into the side replacing Santner. However, Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman remains to miss out today’s clash.
Why is Mustafizur Rahman not playing today?
Rahman, who has been in exceptional form for CSK in IPL 2024, had to leave the CSK squad to join the Tigers for a T20I series against Zimbabwe ahead of the World Cup in June.
Rahman’s performance has been stellar this season, having picked up 14 wickets for CSK, making him their highest wicket-taker so far.
The 28-year-old expressed his gratitude towards CSK and their captain, MS Dhoni, for their support and faith in him. Rahman took to social media to thank Dhoni, saying, “Thanks for everything Mahi bhai. It was a special feeling to share the same dressing room with a legend like you. Thanks for keeping faith in me every time. Appreciating your valuable tips, I will remember those things.”
Rahman’s absence was felt keenly by CSK in the match against PBKS, as they aimed to secure a playoff spot with a win. Mitchell Santner replaced Rahman in the playing XI for the match.
CSK will now have to regroup and adjust their strategies for the remaining matches in IPL 2024, as they look to secure a spot in the playoffs without one of their key players.
