Sanju Samson Misses Out the First T20:

Gautam Gambhir has officially taken the responsibility of the head coach position through this series. Suryakunar Yadav is all set to lead the team in the shortest format. 

As they entered into a new era, Team India went through some changes before stepping into the T20 series. India’s wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Sanson has not been named in the playing xi of the 1st T20I match against Sri Lanka. There is no official clarification about his absence but it might be a strategic move by the team management. 

Rishabh Pant made a comeback in international cricket after a horrible road accident in the T20 World Cup stage. He performed well on that big stage. For this match, he has been named the wicketkeeper for the team in the playing xi. Captain Suryakumar Yadav gave an update about the change. He said, “ Dube, Samson, Khaleel, and Washington are the four players to miss out.”

Toss Update:

At the beginning of the tournament, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first. After winning the toss, Sri Lanka’s newly appointed T20 captain Charitha Asalanka said, “We are going to bowl first. It looks like a pretty good pitch and we want to see how it goes. We are going with 6-5 (batters-bowlers) combination. I want to give every player a specific roles and that; ‘s why we are going with 5 bowlers. You can expect more wins and more consistency.”
