Steve Smith is not going to feature for Delhi Capitals in the 50th match of IPL 2021 against Chennai Super Kings. Delhi Capitals have a debutant in place of the Aussie star.
Steve Smith has played a few matches for Delhi Capitals but has not looked in great touch. He must have tried to anchor the innings on one occasion when the batting line-up had a rare failure. However, in a match like this which is not a must-win in terms of qualification to the Playoffs, the management tends to play newcomers. On the other hand, Delhi will not like to make too many changes as they want to play with the winning combination against the table-toppers Chennai Super Kings. In this case, with a staggering strike rate of 189, a newcomer named Ripal Patel has been given the chance to prove his mettle.
Delhi Capitals have decided to bowl first. Winning the toss, birthday boy Pant said, “The wicket might do something early. We want to focus on the basics, since whatever we have been doing has been working for us. Ripal is debuting, and Smith goes out.”
