Suresh Raina has been a mainstay for Chennai Super Kings along with MS Dhoni since long. The match-winner for CSK in may games over the years is going to miss today’s match against Delhi Capitals.
It came as a surprise to most of the fans when MS Dhoni said that Suresh Raina would not be playing today’s IPL match against Delhi Capitals. Raina is reportedly having a back issue and hence, he is rested for the match. Moreover, Chennai Super Kings have already qualified to the top four. Dhoni is famous for his thought process of giving opportunity to benched players whenever there’s an option. Uthappa is probably playing his last IPL and Raina is not in good form and suffering from back too. So here’s one change that should not harm the combination ideally but Uthappa, the veteran of the league will be seen playing an IPL game.
Dhoni, after losing the toss, “We were looking to bat first, but we were not 100% sure, the wicket seems to be tacky. We have got a few changes – Sam is out, Bravo is back, Chahar replaces Asif and Robin Uthappa replaces Suresh Raina, who has a back issue. We are trying to rest players who have some niggles, top-two is important, if you have a bad day in the qualifiers, you have another chance to make a comeback.”
