After winning their match against SunRisers Hyderabad, one of the most feared teams in IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore players are over the moon. It seems like RCB finally has something to smile about. The win comes as a breath of fresh air for the team, which was on a losing streak since their last 6 matches. Today’s match marks RCB’s second win in the season.
The match was held in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Despite playing at their home ground, SRH couldn’t do much this time. The Hyderabad based franchise has been scoring a lot of runs this season, with
3 matches ending up with them scoring above 250 runs.
Today, SRH’s score was restricted to 171/8 in 20 overs. It was Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis who won the toss and opted to bat first against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The decision turned out in their favour as the team scored 206/7 hence, securing victory over the match by 35 runs.
“We had shown great fight in last two games” – Faf
Addressing the audience at the after-match ceremony, Faf du Plessis took the microphone to share his feelings and opinions about the match.
Faf highlighted that the team had shown great fight in their last two matches with losing by a few runs to SRH and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively.
The South African Skipper said, “last two games, we’ve shown great signs of fight. SRH game was 270 plus, we got 260. KKR game as well – 1 run. We’ve been close for a while, but you need to win matches to get confidence as a group. Will sleep easier tonight.”
Can’t speak confidence into a group
In the same statement, the RCB captain and skipper threw light on the importance of confidence in a team. He also explained that confidence is a virtue that can’t be taught.
“You can’t speak confidence into the group, can’t fake confidence into the group. Only thing that gives confidence is performances. The competition is so strong, the teams are so strong that you’ll get hurt if you’re not at 100 percent. More guys scoring runs now. First half of the tournament only Virat was scoring runs. Greeny scoring runs now will be massive for him. We know that Chinnaswamy, that’s been a big frustration for us. It’s a difficult ground to bowl at. We’ve tried to find a recipe for it, but it’s tough.” He added.
