Chennai Super Kings CEO expects that Dhoni does not take any call for CSK just like he did for international cricket on August 15. He further said that the management wants Dhoni to play as long as he wants.

CSK wants Dhoni to continue play IPL
Although Mahendra Singh Dhoni was out of action for more than a year, there was an expectation, a hope. But the 37-year-old former India captain took to social media on India’s Independence Day and decided to quite from international cricket. This shocked many especially because the stature like Dhoni deserves a proper on-field farewell. Fortunately, fans can see him playing cricket for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020 which is going to begin from September 19. While speaking about Dhoni’s IPL future, the CSK CEO made sure what the management wants from the legend.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan pointed out, “He has quit international cricket only. He is going to play for CSK. We want him to play for us as long as he wants. In fact, we plan to retain him as a player after the 2021 IPL too.”

On Dhoni’s clarity
While speaking about Dhoni’s decision, the CEO continued, “The decision to retire from international cricket was typical of Dhoni. But we don’t interfere with him when it comes to cricketing decisions. However, we certainly hope that he doesn’t make a decision like that and quit CSK.”

He explained that it came as a surprise to all. The CEO also insisted that the larger credit for CSK’s success should be given to Dhoni because India’s legendary keeper-batsman was always clear on his thoughts. “His decision completely took us by surprise but he showed no emotions. He was as cool and calm as ever. The Indian team and CSK have achieved success over the years under Dhoni’s captaincy because there was clarity in his thoughts. On Saturday, too, I could see the same clarity in his decision.”
