“I don’t have many plans” Shakib Al Hasan Focused on Pakistan Series, Leaves Future Plans Open

The T20 World Cup has ended successfully with some unforgettable memorable memories. But in this World Cup, Bangladesh’s performance was shaky. After completing the group stage, they entered the vSuper Eight stage but lodging all three matches, they bid goodbye to the tournament. In this whole tournament, Shakib Al Hasan’s off-form was noticeable. A few tours are lined up for them. The Bangladesh all-rounder has not confirmed if he will continue playing after the Pakistan tour in August, casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming India tour.

Bangladesh is set to play two Tests during their tour of Pakistan in August, followed by two Tests and three T20Is against India from September 19 to October 12. However, uncertainty looms over Shakib Al Hasan’s participation after his lackluster performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup. During the tournament, he struggled with an average of just 18.50 runs with the bat and managed to take only three wickets across seven matches. His dip in form proved to be a significant setback for Bangladesh.

Shakib Al Hasan is currently focused on playing for the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the upcoming Major League Cricket. He mentioned that he’s not looking too far ahead and has only planned up to the tour of Pakistan. His immediate priority is preparing for this tour, with decisions about future commitments yet to be made.

Shakib said, “I don’t have many plans. There is international cricket and there is a series against Pakistan and I am planning till that point of time and not planning beyond that. Now I don’t have time to plan for three four years and so planning for three to six months is better and later will think about my next plan and so till now I am planning till the Pakistan series.”

Later the Bangladeshi all-rounder added, “There are two T20 tournaments in front of me one is MLC and the other one is the Global T20 League in Canada and let me see where I stand after playing these two tournaments because I need to understand [how I feel].”

On Taskin’s Apologies:

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed grabbed attention after a Bangladesh Cricket Board official revealed that he was absent from the India match in the 2024 T20 World Cup because he missed the team bus. Taskin arrived late at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, causing him to miss the Super-8 clash in the recently concluded tournament.

Shakib mentioned that pace bowler Taskin Ahmed apologized to his teammates for his absence during the game against India. He said, “Taskin apologized to the team for that afterwards and everyone in the team took it normally because a man can mistake and anyone can commit an unintentional mistake and he accepted it and the thing ended at that point of time.”

Later he added, “The team bus starts at a certain point and there is a rule for cricketers that team bus does not stop for anyone and if anyone misses it in that case he comes in the next car.”

Lastly, the Bangladeshi all-rounder added, “The manager’s car or a taxi is there and the support of transport was difficult in the West Indies. When Taskin arrived it was five to 10 minutes before the toss and certainly it was difficult to pick him at that point in the team and it was difficult for him as well.”
