“I thought the wicket played” SRH Skipper Pat Cummins Reflects on First Season Loss

Ahmedabad spectators witnessed an electrifying showdown as Gujarat Titans clashed with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in IPL 2024’s 12th match. The Titans asserted their dominance, handing SRH their first defeat of the tournament. Reflecting on the loss, SRH skipper Pat Cummins shared his post-match insights, adding intrigue to the unfolding IPL drama.

Pat Cummins on Defeat:

After winning the toss, Pat Cummins opted to bat first. The Gujarat Titans bowlers used this in the best way. None of the SRH batters got a fifty. Abhisekh Sharma and Abdul Samad scored 29 runs. Those were the highest scores of their side. Heinrich Klaasen scored 24 runs in 13 balls. Aiden Markram scored 17 runs, their innings ended with 162 runs.

After facing their first defeat of the season, SRH skipper Pat Cummins opened up. He said, “Good game of cricket, was tight in the end, probably we needed 10-15 more runs. I think they bowled well, just losing a couple of wickets, didn’t have that one person who kicked on to get a fifty, that happens. Today it was, we thought the wicket was going to get a bit slow, the off-cutters did grip, we had 8 bowling options in our side. I thought the wicket played the same in both innings. It’s T20 cricket isn’t it? Had a fantastic couple of games with the bat, today we didn’t quite click.”

First Defeat of SRH:

In their third game of the league, Sunrisers Hyderabad met Gujarat Titans. The Titans didn’t let the SRH batters dominate the innings, Mohit Sharma took 3 crucial wickets in 25 runs. Travis Head lost his wicket on 19 runs. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed on 29 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed scored 22 runs. Abdul Samad added 29 runs to the scoreboard. They reached 162 runs in 20 overs.
