This century was a major achievement for the young batter. He moved past Virat Kohli to secure the No. 2 position among Indian batters in the World Test Championship for most centuries. With this milestone, he surpassed the four centuries recorded by Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Mayank Agarwal.

Gill’s Hillarious Comment on Pant:

The Gill-Pant partnership added 167 runs for the fourth wicket, giving India a commanding lead of 514 runs. They dominated the opposing bowlers. Gill shared a funny story about Pant’s lively presence at the crease, noting that he had to calm Pant down to protect his bat, which was at risk from Pant’s constant tapping.

After the match, Gill said, “I was telling him to not do so because I was playing with a bat that I played the England series with. So, my bat is quite old actually.”

Later he added, “He was hitting my bat so hard I was telling him I am trying to save my bat. And if he didn’t get it right, while we were in the middle, he would say ‘No, let’s do it again.’ I had to tell him to calm down.”

As the match was going on with all excitement, bad light forced to stop the game of day 3 early on. There are two more days left for the ongoing Test match. In the second innings, the visitors already lost 4 wickets. To win the match, they need 357 runs.
