ICC Cancels PoK Trophy Tour Amid BCCI’s Concerns

The International Cricket Council has canceled the Champions Trophy trophy tour in PoK after objections raised by the BCCI.

The Pakistan Cricket Board included Skardu, Murree, and Muzaffarabad in PoK in the tour itinerary for the 2025 tournament promotion.

The BCCI flagged the issue, citing PoK as a disputed region between India and Pakistan.

A source from the ICC confirmed that the tour’s final schedule is yet to be announced officially through its channels.

“He has urged the ICC to take strong action in this regard. The PCB has no business sharing the schedule because it has to come from ICC. Things need to be done via appropriate channels,” said a source close to the development.

Another source said, “There is no question of approving or rejecting anything at this stage. Discussions on the final plan for the Trophy Tour are ongoing. As always, the confirmed schedule will be announced through ICC channels.”

The BCCI’s objections are the latest development in the strained cricketing relations between India and Pakistan

Since 2008, the two nations have not engaged in bilateral cricketing ties due to political tensions.

While Pakistan has allocated significant resources to upgrade its cricketing infrastructure for the Champions Trophy, India’s reluctance to travel to Pakistan has added further uncertainty.

The PCB recently wrote to the ICC seeking clarification on India’s refusal to participate in the tournament in Pakistan.

The board has also forwarded ICC’s communication to the Pakistani government for further direction.

Speculations are now rife about whether the tournament will follow a hybrid model, similar to the 2023 Asia Cup, or be moved entirely out of Pakistan.
