The big face off, match 10 between Australia And South Africa has just concluded at the Ekana Sports City, Lucknow with the Proteas emerging victorious and opening its win account for the first time since the commencement of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Initially, Australia won the toss and chose to bat with the other side continuing to bat. The South African side chased a total of 311 runs for a loss of 7 wickets while Australia was restricted to a below par of 177 in 40.5 overs.
The Proteas clinched to victory by a convincing margin of 134 runs. Though during the second innings, Australia was repeatedly exposed to controversial decisions by the umpire, the most disputed one being Marcus Stoinis’s wicket taken by South African bowler Kagiso Rabada. The batter argued with the umpire that the ball didn’t touch his bat but unfortunately, the decision was upheld by the umpire. Quinton’s powerful knock
South Africa’s Quinton de Kock played a beautiful knock against the Australian side by smashing a 109-run century off 106 balls. He added 109 runs to his previous 84 runs which he scored against New Zealand in the World Cup opener match on October 2. The second in the list is Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan who smashed 199 runs in total against Netherlands and Sri Lanka followed up by Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis who is at 198 runs.
South Africa is the country on the list to feature 3 of its players as the highest run scorers namely Quinton de Kock (209), Aiden Markram (162) and Rassie Van der Dussen (134). While New Zealand has two players on the list, England’s Joe Root and Dawid Malan are at 7th and 8th positions. It is yet to witness some other exceptional performances which will come down on further World Cup matches. The only Indian player to feature on the list is Virat Kohli, who scored 140 runs.He achieved this remarkable feat for India against Australia and Afghanistan.
