Day 2 of the T20 World Cup 2024 has seen two intense fixtures which made the tournament more interesting. In the first match, Namibia and Oman locked horns at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados where Namibia registered an excellent win. On the other hand, Sri Lanka and South Africa locked horns and South Africa registered a win. Both the matches showcased amazing batting performances.
Oman vs Namibia’s Excellence:
In the first match of the day, Oman and Namibia locked horns. While batting first, Oman lost their first few wickets quickly. After that, they tried to bounce back. Zeeshan Maqsood and Khalid Kalli tried to make an impactful partnership. Maqsood scored 22 runs in 23 balls. Khalid added 34 runs in 39 balls. Ayaan Khan scored 15 runs in 21 balls. In 20 overs, Oman scored 109 runs.
In the second innings, Namibia lost their first wicket early. But Niko Davin and Jan Frylinck tried to build a partnership. Davin scored 24 runs in 31 balls. Frylinck played a knock of 45 runs in 48 balls. Erasmus scored 13 runs in 16 balls. But in 20 overs, they also reached 109 runs.
Super Over Drama Added an Extra Twist:
As both teams scored the same, the match went for a super over. David Wiese and Gerhard Erasmus took the super over for Namibia in a different level. Wiese played an unbeaten knock of 13 runs in 4 balls. Erasmus was unbeaten on 8 runs in 2 overs. In the allotted 1 over, they scored 21 runs. While chasing the super over target, Oman fell short. Naseem Khushi lost his wicket scoring 2 runs in 3 balls. In that over, they reached 10/1. They faced a defeat of 11 runs in that game.
Thrilling Second Match:
In the second match of the day, Sri Lanka and South Africa faced each. While batting first, Pathum Nissanka was dismissed on 3 runs in 8 balls. Kushal Mendis played a knock of 19 runs in 30 balls. Kamindu Mendis scored 11 runs in 15 balls. Angelo Matthews played a knock of 16 runs in 16 balls. Sri Lanka’s batting orders broke down in front of South Africa’s bowling excellence. They got all out in 77 runs,
The target was easy to chase but the South African batters made the wait to win long. In the second innings, Reeza Hendricks scored 4 runs in 2 balls. Aiden Markram scored 12 runs in 14 balls. Quinton de Kock played a knock of 20 runs in 27 balls. Tristan Stubbs scored 13 runs in 28 balls. Heinrich Klaasen played an unbeaten knock of 19 runs in 22 balls. They reached the target in the 17th over and registered a win of 6 wickets.
