On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the itinerary for the ODI World Cup 2023 in Mumbai. The event will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, according to the program. The India vs. Pakistan match, undoubtedly the most important match in the competition, has also been planned for October 15 in Ahmedabad. The Indian cricket team will open its season against Australia in Chennai on October 8. The tournament’s final will be held on November 19 in Ahmedabad.
The mega event will include a total of ten teams. Eight teams have already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League, with two more to be determined. The final two berths will be determined at the conclusion of the Qualifier competition in Zimbabwe on July 9.
The competition will begin with a match between the previous year’s finalists, England and New Zealand. However, there are still a number of intriguing matches to be played in the league stage.
While the Indo-Pak match is undoubtedly the most important of the round-robin stage, Australia’s match against South Africa on October 13 in Lucknow is equally significant. The Australians will be looking for a turnaround after a dramatic match in the previous edition ended in the Rainbow Nation’s advantage.
India will aim to avenge their 2019 World Cup semi-final loss to New Zealand on October 22 in Dharamsala, while Australia will meet arch-rival England on November 4 in Ahmedabad.
