The former cricketer who served as the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was sentenced to prison owing to a corruption case. The Captain has made his mark in the Pakistani’s cricket history. However during his political ruling time he had faced several accusations and was sentenced to prison in various aspects. Recently he has been sentenced to a 14-year prison in Toshakhana(treasure house)for not submitting his papers for tax issues .
He was also involved in a case for 10 year prison which he has already been serving in a separate case. Wednesday’s court case revolved around accusations over state gifts that he and his wife Bushra Bibi received in the office. While Tuesday’s case – for which he was sentenced to 10 years – for leaking the classified state documents. The two sentences will run concurrently accordingly yet it has to be confirmed.
The court has ordered a fine of PKR 787 million (US $2.9M). Khan’s lawyers said they would like to appeal to Pakistan’s High Court in both the cases.

The captain’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party is in big trouble. Khan has been disqualified for 10 years from holding any public political events which was for a 5 year period earlier.
Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, surrendered on Wednesday. She has kept a very low profile in the office. They were married 6 months just before Khan was elected as prime minister.
In this case they both had strongly denied the accusations by Pakistan’s anti-corruption watchdog. This includes gifts such as a jewelry set from the Prince of Saudi Arabia. The Captain says these accusations will make him politically strong but who knows what happens in the end. It has been proven that none can escape the law. And Imran will be serving his time in jail for 14 years.
