Indian Cricketers Come Forefront To Defeat COVID-19

In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, Indian celebrities are coming forward to help the country fight together against the growing threat of the invisible monster. A number of cricketers have already donated their bit whereas new named are being added daily in the list of responsible citizens and contributors.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma came forward to donate in the cause of coronavirus outbreak in India. The donated at the PM-CARES and CM’s Relief Fund of Maharashtra to combat the ongoing threat but did not reveal the amount. Kohli took to Twitter to announce the same, “Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many & we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens #IndiaFightsCorona.”

Rohit Sharma donated Rs 80 lakh as to him, the citizens must help the country make a graceful comeback. Out of his total donation, Rs 45 lakh was donated to the PM-CARES and Rs 25 lakh was given to the CM’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). He also gave Rs 5 lakh to ‘Zomato Feeding India’ and another Rs 5 lakh for the welfare of stray dogs.

Sachin Tendulkar already started spreading words on corona since the beginning of the outbreak as the brand ambassador of UNICEF. Now the legend donated ₹25 lakh each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to help the country fight the battle against the deadly novel COVID-19.

Sourav Ganguly is doing his bit as a responsible citizen. Individually he donated rice worth Rs 50 lakh along with Lal Baba Rice for the needy people in West Bengal. His foundation also donating rice and money through different organizations like Ramkrishna Mission and Iskon. Moreover, the BCCI president is trying to help the West Bengal government as much as possible to beat the threat.

Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble on Tuesday wrote on his Twitter account, “To bowl out #Covid19India we all need to come together and fight this battle. I have made my humble contributions to #PMCaresFund #PMNRF and #CMReliefFund @PMOIndia @narendramodi @CMofKarnataka @BSYBJP Please do #StaySafeStayHome.” The amount was not disclosed.

The Pathan brothers were one of the foremost celebrities to come forward for the sake of public health. Irfan Pathan announced that he along with his brother Yusuf donated 4000 face masks to the health department under the banner Mehmood Khan Pathan Charitable Trust, an organisation run by their father.

Former Indian star opener Gautam Gambhir had earlier contributed his one month salary and Rs 1 crore from his MP LAD fund. Later on March 28, he also declared on Twitter that he would be donating two years’ salary the PM-CARES fund.

Ajinkya Rahane donated Rs 10 lakhs to the Maharashtra CM Relief Fund. Suresh Raina stepped up to give Rs 52 lakh out of which Rs31 lakh was donated to the PM-CARES Fund and Rs 21 lakh was sent for the UP CM’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Indian women’s ODI team captain Mithali Raj decided to donate Rs 5 lakh each to the PM-CARES Fund and the Telangana Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

India’s star leg spinner Poonam Yadav came forward with Rs 2 lakhs for the PM- CARES Fund and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Fund. Her colleague Deepti Sharma, the all-rounder contributed Rs 1.5 lakh- Rs 50000 each to the PM CARES Fund, UP Chief Minister’s Distress Fund and West Bengal State Emergency Fund respectively.
