.Another day of IPL 2024 ended on an exciting note. The 64th match of the tournament saw another thrilling match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. As the match was crucial, both teams fought an intense battle. The match witnessed some extraordinary bowling performances which impacted the Orange Cap table.
Delhi Capitals’ Batting Display:
As the play-off stage is approaching, each match is much less than any battle. On May 14, Delhi Capitals faced Lucknow Super Giants. While batting first Delhi lost an early wicket as Jake Fraser McGurk was dismissed on a duck. But that pressure didn’t last long. Sai Hope and Abhishek Porel made a crucial partnership. The partnership lasted for 92 runs. After that, Sai Hope walked away after scoring 38 runs in 27 balls.
Abhishek Porel scored an incredible half-century on a crucial point and played a knock of 58 runs in 33 balls. After their dismissals, skipper Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs continued putting pressure on the opponent. Rishabh played an innings of 33 runs in 23 balls. Stubbs showcased his class once again. He scored an outstanding half-century in just 22 balls and remained unbeaten on 57 runs in just 25 deliveries. Delhi Capitals scored 208 runs in 20 overs.
LSG’s Poor Batting Costs Again:
It was another disappointing day at the LSG camp. After bowling in the first innings, Lucknow Super Giants struggled while batting in the second innings. Their poor batting costs them another match. While opening the innings, KL Rahul departed scoring only 5 runs in 3 balls. Quinton de Kock lost his wicket after scoring 12 runs in 8 balls. Mar Cus Stoinis who played several match-winning knocks this season, failed to showcase his excellence again. He was dismissed on 5 runs.
The players failed to make an impact in the game. Among all the batting failures, Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan’s knock shined the brightest. Pooran played an excellent knock of 61 runs only in 27 balls. On the other hand, Arshad was unbeaten on 58 runs in 33 balls. But those were not enough to chase the target. They faced a defeat of 19 runs.
