Indian Premier League 2024 Orange Cap: Updated After PBKS vs CSK and LSG vs KKR Match No. 53 and 54

Sunday became a fun day again because of two exciting blockbuster matches. In the first half of the day, Chennai Super Kings locked horns with Punjab Kings in Dharamsala. The night becomes more interesting with the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants. Both clashes witnessed some batting resilience which brought some notable changes in the Orange Cap table.

Intense Batting Performances by Chennai and Punjab:

The first match of the day witnessed a nail-biting clash between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The match has seen an intense battle. While batting first, Ajiyanka Rahane was dismissed on 9 runs. After that, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell were pushing the innings well. Ravindra Jadeja played an impactful innings of 43 runs in 26 balls. In 20 overs, they managed to score 167/9. 

While batting in the second innings, Punjab Kings struggled with their batting form. Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw walked away early. Prabhsimran Singh played a knock of 30 runs. Shashank Singh scored 27 runs in 20 balls. Harpreet Brar remained unbeaten on 17 runs. They struggled throughout. But those efforts couldn’t save Punjab as they faced a 28-run defeat. 

KKR’s Dominance and LSG’s Batting Struggle:

Another day, another 200+ score for Kolkata Knight Riders. In the second match of the day, Lucknow Super Giants faced Kolkata Knight Riders at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. While batting first, they have shown their batting masterclass. Sunil Narine shined again scoring 81 runs. Phill Salt and Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 32 runs each. Rinku Singh scored 16 runs in 11 balls. Skipper Shreyas Iyer added 23 runs in 15 balls. With this exceptional batting display, they scored 235/6 in 20 overs.

On the other hand, Lucknow batters struggled throughout the second innings as they failed to make any impactful partnerships. Arshin Kulkarni walked away after scoring only 9 runs. KL Rahul lost his wicket scoring 25 runs. Marcus Stoinis scored 36 runs in 21 balls. Nicholas Pooran walked away after scoring 10 runs. Ayush Badoni was dismissed on 15 runs. Their wickets kept falling consecutively. They ended the match facing a huge defeat of 98 runs.
