Indian Premier League Orange Cap:  Updated After Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians Match No. 60

The 60th game of IPL 2024 has showcased an exciting match with rain interruption. In this match, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians locked horns at the Eden Gardens. The match faced a different kind of thrills and witnessed some incredible performance. In a struggling situation, batters from both teams showed their incredible batting efforts which brought some notable changes in Twitter. 

KKR’s Struggle in the First Innings:

In the 60th match of the IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians faced off in a thrilling encounter. Batting first, KKR encountered early struggles as MI’s bowlers dominated. Phil Salt departed after scoring just 6 runs in 5 balls, followed by Sunil Narine’s dismissal without adding any runs, putting KKR under pressure. Skipper Shreyas Iyer’s brief stay at the crease yielded only 7 runs, compounding their woes.

However, Venkatesh Iyer emerged as the savior for KKR with a brilliant knock of 42 runs off 21 balls, injecting momentum into their innings. Nitish Rana contributed 33 runs from 23 balls, while Andre Russell’s quickfire 24 off 14 balls provided crucial late impetus. Rinku Singh added 20 runs from 12 balls before departing. Despite the setbacks, KKR managed to post a competitive total of 157-7, setting a target of 158 for Mumbai Indians to chase.

Mumbai’s Tough Day:

While batting in the second innings, Mumbai Indians struggled. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma gave a nice start. But Rohit Sharma was dismissed on 19 runs. Ishan Kishan played an excellent innings of 40 runs in 22 runs. Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed 11 runs. Tilak Verma played an innings of 32 runs. Naman Dhir scored 17 runs in 6 balls. No other batters got a chance to stand tall in front of KKR’s bowling. All their efforts ended as their innings stopped in 139 runs. Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 35 runs.
