India’s Announces Star-Studded Squad for ICC T20 Women’s World Cup

The 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be the ninth edition of the tournament. Originally set to take place in Bangladesh from October 3 to 20, 2024, the event has been moved to the United Arab Emirates due to political unrest in Bangladesh. 

India has announced their squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins on October 3.Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team, with Smriti Mandhana serving as vice-captain. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Smriti is likely to open the batting with Shafali Verma, while Dayalan Hemalatha provides another top-order option.

Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh add strength to the batting lineup. Richa will also take on the role of wicketkeeper, along with Yastika Bhatia.

The bowling attack includes Renuka Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Asha Sobhana, Sajana Sajeevan, and Shreyanka Patil. India has a good mix of all-rounders in Harmanpreet, Sajana, Sobhana, and Deepti.

Yastika Bhatia and Shreyanka Patil’s selection depends on their fitness, as both have been dealing with injuries in recent months. India will also have three travelling reserves for the tournament in the UAE.
