After the World Cup 2023, India is playing a five-match T20 series against Australia on home soil. After ending this series, India will travel to South Africa for a long tour. The tour will be featuring 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 2 test matches. On November 30, BCCI announced India’s squads for the South Africa tour.
India’s Squad for T20 Against South Africa:
India’s South Africa tour will be starting with the T20 series. On December 10, the first T20 has been scheduled. The second and third T20 will be playing on December 12th and 14th. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli asked for rest from the white ball format of this tour. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team.
The squad for the T20 series features Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Verma, Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Jitesh Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar and Deepak Chahar. Ravindra Jadeja is the vice-captain of the team. There is a perfect blend of young talent and experience.
India’s Squad for the ODI against South Africa:
As Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are taking a break from the white ball format, BCCI had to look out for a leader who can lead the team in the ODI format. For this tour, KL Rahul is selected as the captain of the ODI squad for South Africa. He has the experience to lead India. Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal came back to international cricket after a long time.
The ODI squad of India is Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudarshan, Tilak Verma, Rajat Patidar, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar. There are some new faces. The ODI series will be on the stage on December 17.
India’s Squad for the Test Against South Africa:
India will be playing a two-match test series against South Africa. The first test match will be played on December 26 and the second test will start on January 3. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and other players are coming back in the test series after a break. Rohit Sharma will take charge as captain in the test series.
The test squad for India is Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna. Jasprit Bumrah will be the vice-captain of the test team. Mohammad Shami is undergoing a medical treatment and his availability is subject to fitness.
