India’s strategy to dethrone Pakistan in ICC ranking

On Sunday, India registered a huge win against Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. It was a massive win in the history of the Asia Cup. Mohammed Siraj made the road clear for the victory. In front of Siraj’s fiery pace, the Sri Lankan batting lineup was just blown away. He registered a record of 6/21 in the final. Hardik took 2 wickets and Bumrah ended up with 1 wicket.

Before this, India defeated Pakistan by 228 runs. While batting first, India put on a big target of 357 runs. Both the openers Rohit and Shubhman scored half-centuries. Virat scored an unbeaten 122 by 94 runs. KL Rahul made a comeback in the tournament in this series. He made an unbeaten 111 in 106 runs. In bowling, Kuldeep took 5 wickets in just 25 runs. He just swept the opponent batters. Despite this tremendous performance, India grabbed a massive win of 228 runs.

Even after two big wins, India failed to move to the 1st spot in the ICC ODI ranking. On the other side, South Africa won the final match against Australia by over 100 runs. Even after losing 2 matches in the Super Four, Pakistan is still in the no 1 spot.

Pakistan’s ranking:

Pakistan is the no.1 team in the ICC ODI ranking. Pakistan has been in the same spot quite a few times now. They participated in the Asia Cup by being on no.1. They faced two losses in that tournament. They lost the match against India by 228 runs. Which was a big blow for them. Their current rating is 114.889.

India’s position:

India is in absolute best form before the World Cup. Rohit and Co. named the Asia Cup title. Despite this, they failed to claim the number 1 spot. South Africa defeated Australia by over 100 runs. That has been an issue for India to claim the top spot. India’s current rating is 114.659.

India’s chances to claim the top:

Before the World Cup India will face Australia at home. The final clash before the big tournament will be held on September 22. Australia is currently in the number three spot. Their rating is 113. If they win against India they will come on number 2. Because of Australia’s win Pakistan will remain on no.1. But in case India bag the three-match ODI series by the margin of 2-1 India will come to the top. Pakistan will be no 2. So, Pakistan has to depend on Australia to remain in the ni.1 spot of the ICC ODI ranking.
