Ahead of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup premiering in less than 2 weeks, the fans are ready to witness the much awaited clash between long time rivals India and Pakistan.
The cricket playing nations have been announcing their squads for the big game. Recently, Pakistan announced its playing squad for the tournament through a press conference which was attended by Pakistan chief selector and former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.
‘He plays for another team’, says Inzamam-ul-Haq
During the press conference, a Pakistani journalist questioned the current chief selector which drew a comparison between Indian spinners like Kuldeep Yadav and other spinners that Pakistan have. While responding to his question, Inzamam came with a witty reply “The first problem is I cannot select Kuldeep Yadav. He plays for another team. With Shadab and NawazI have tried to keep continuity. You are right that their performances of late haven’t been to that level and we will hope that they deliver, else we do have the option of Usama Mir.”
The main concern that the journalist highlighted in the question was Pakistan’s lack of ability to take important wickets in the just concluded Asia Cup. Pacers like Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz have not been performing to their best level lately and this has raised serious concerns among the Management.Â
Interestingly, it is noteworthy that Kuldeep Yadav was given the Player of the Tournament award in the Asia Cup in which he scalped 9 wickets in 4 innings.
Pakistan’s squad for the WC

Abrar Ahmed, Zaman Khan and Mohammad Haris have been kept as travelling reserves.
Also, the squad that Pakistan announced does not include pacer Naseem Shah who suffered a shoulder injury recently during the Asia Cup.
