Match 7 of IPL 2020 will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. While Chennai Super Kings have already two matches with one and loss, the Capitals have managed to snatch away a super-over victory against Kings XI Punjab.
Chennai Super Kings
Shane Watson
Shane Watson yet comes to full glory but he did look in shape in the last encounter against Rajasthan Royals. A 21-ball 33 with one four and four sixes was a decent try with an almost impossible target on board. In fact, he could have changed the result if he stayed for a bit longer.
Faf du Plessis
With two half-centuries in two matches, Faf du Plessis is the second-highest run-scorer of the league so far with 130 runs at an average of 130 and a strike rate of 160.49. During his second innings against Rajasthan Royals, he showed his determination and kept the CSK hopes alive till the end while chasing a massive target of 217 runs.
Sam Curran
Sam Curran is currently standing at fourth place on the IPL 2020 Purple Cap list. He has so far picked four wickets in two games at an economy rate of 7.62. So far, he has been quite consistent as an all-rounder. CSK need their best bowler of the tournament thus far in the playing XI. The team management has all the right reasons to back him for the next few games.
Imran Tahir
It is probably time to bring in Imran Tahir, the veteran of the game. The third game of the season is going to be vital for CSK especially after losing their second one against Rajasthan Royals. They would like to get back to winning ways and instead of Lungi Ngidi might think of including Tahir to the set-up. Ngidi conceded runs at an average of 14 last time out. In-form Tahir could make a significant difference.
Delhi Capitals
The match between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab has been the most interesting game of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League so far. The match went into super over and the credit goes to Stoinis. First, he got a quickfire fifty to add 57 runs in the last 3 overs for Delhi and then he followed it by two wickets in the last two balls of the KXIP innings to take the match to a super over.
Opting out Rabada cannot be a choice. He singlehandedly handed over the super over the win to his side by reducing Kings XI Punjab for just two runs the deciding over. At first, Rabada picked up two vital wickets of KXIP including the dangerous Glenn Maxwell. Then once the match was into super over, he lived up to the captain’s expectations and scalped two more wickets.
Shimron Hetmyer is known for his big shots. In the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League, he batted with a strike rate of 125.9 to amass 267 runs with 71 being his highest. His first match was not successful but on his day his quick-fire innings at No 3 can provide momentum to Delhi’s middle order
Anrich Nortje failed to perform last time out. He gave away 33 runs in his four overs and was even hit for six boundaries. But he is a bowler with good pace and skill and with Shreyas Iyer looking to maintain a winning team combination, Nortje should make the cut.
