He can achieve the record of hitting 500 fours this year which only one player has done so far. Shikhar Dhawan is the only player to have hit 500+ fours. With 524 fours from 159 games, Dhawan is at the top.

Suresh Raina is at the second spot 493 fours and Gautam Gambhir is behind him with 491 fours. Kohli is fourth on the list with 480 fours. He is a run-scoring machine and the most prolific ever. The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is almost upon us. The excitement is getting bigger with each passing day. The day is now not too far when we would witness the repeat of the last year's final Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener. In the previous 12 editions, there have been some stalwarts who have already stamped themselves as the legend of the tournament. These players rule the charts of the records. Before the IPL 13 begins, let's look at the huge milestones that some of the biggest names of the league can achieve in this season. Rohit Sharma can become the third player to accumulate 5000 runs

#1 Rohit Sharma can become the third player to accumulate 5000 runs

The skipper of Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma is on the verge of achieving something special. He is just 102 runs short of scoring 5000 runs in the IPL. With 4898 runs from 188 games, he is third on the list of highest run-getters. Only Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli are ahead of Rohit, who have crossed the 5000-run mark. Rohit is set to open the innings for Mumbai Indians and he could well achieve this landmark in the first few games. Even though his recent record in the tournament hasn't been as good as his international run, yet we can back him to achieve this record soon.

#2 David Warner can become the first overseas player to accumulate 5000 runs

Even though the name of the league is the Indian Premier League, yet it is complete without the overseas players. The foreign players add the flavors to the league. The flamboyant batsman like David Warner has been an integral part of the tournament for a long time. He has been one of the most prolific run-getters in the last few years. The Australian opener has won the Orange Cap 3 times in the last 5 years. In fact, he is the only batsman to win it 3 times. As a result, he is at the top as far as the overseas run-scorers are concerned. Warner has scored 4706 runs from 126 games. He is fourth on the list of the players with the most number of runs. The Sunrisers Hyderabad captain should become the first overseas player to get past 5000 runs in the league this year.

#3 Rohit Sharma can become the second Indian player to hit 200 sixes

Rohit Sharma is on the verge of achieving another special milestone. Right now, only MS Dhoni has hit more than 200 sixes amongst the Indian batsmen. The former Indian captain has 209 sixes to his name while Rohit has 194 in his bag. No other Indian batsman has hit sixes at a rate better than Rohit in recent years. So, this is a milestone that Rohit is certain to have after the first few matches. As far as the top six-hitters of all time are concerned, Chris Gayle tops the charts. The West Indian superstar has amassed 326 sixes and no one else is anywhere close to him. AB de Villiers is next to Gayle with 212 sixes. Rohit would definitely cross the 200-mark but Gayle's record would remain untouched for a number of years to come.

#5 Amit Mishra can become the highest wicket-taker

The Sri Lankan maestro Lasith Malinga has been ruling the bowling charts for a number of years. With 170 wickets, he is the highest wicket-taker of all time in the IPL. But the Mumbai Indians speedster Malinga has pulled out the league this year. It provides an opening for others to topple him to reach the top. At this point, the leg-spinner Amit Mishra is the only one who has a realistic chance of overtaking Malinga. Mishra, having 157 wickets from 147 games, is 13 wickets behind Malinga. The conditions in the UAE are expected to assist the spinners. If Mishra gets a decent run, we could well see him going past Malinga to become the top wicket-taker of the tournament.
