Chris Gayle is missing yet another IPL match of this season. Kings XI Punjab is ready to face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the sixth match of IPL 2020 with more or less the same team combination. Keep reading to find out the reason why Chris Gayle is not playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020.
Here is why Chris Gayle not playing today against RCB
When Kings XI Punjab did not Chris Gayle is their opening encounter, it was expected that Gayle will make an appearance in the next one. After the mini batting collapse that KXIP faced in the first game against Delhi Capitals, Gayle’s inclusion seemed to be on cards considering his IPL record. But it seems like the team management has some other plan in mind. Even in the second match of their campaign Punjab team wants to go with the Universe Boss.
KL Rahul lost the toss and was sent to bat first by Virat Kohli in the meantime. The KXIP captain said, “There were a lot of positives and it was the first game. Mayank’s batting and our team’s fight was heartening. Jordan and Gowtham aren’t playing, Murugan Ashwin and Neesham come in. Chris Gayle will come in at the right time, don’t worry about it.”
Neesham replaces Jordan
It seems like the team management wants to trust the core team combination they had in the first match. Hence not much has been changed. They are still going with Glenn Maxwell, Nicholas Pooran, and Sheldon Cottrell. The only overseas change has been Chris Jordan. Jordan has been replaced with James Neesham. After the last match, there was no chance of going without Cottrell. With Pooran and Neesham, the team management must want to trust the reputation they have.
Jordan had a poor outing in the first fixture. He conceded 56 runs and ended up as the most expensive bowler of KXIP. James Neesham on the other hand is a better bat. Now whether KXIP can pull out this match without Gayle or not time will tell.
