Rohit Sharma’s presence in the training session with Mumbai Indians on Monday created much chaos. However, Sharma is still not match-fit enough to play Royal Challengers Bangalore today in the 48th IPL match.
No Rohit Sharma
On Monday just after Rohit Sharma was dropped from the tour to Australia, he was seen in nets with his Mumbai Indians team. This, for obvious reason, gave birth to controversy regarding his injury and selection. Sharma, the regular Mumbai Indians captain had missed two matches by then in IPL 13 following an injury he had sustained in the match against Kings XI Punjab. Kieron Pollard has been captaining the side since then. Even today Pollard is captaining the team in this crucial match. Ahead of the match, Pragyan Ojha spoke about the absence of Rohit Sharma to Sports Today.
“I think Rohit Sharma, as a captain, adds more value to MI. That will be a big miss for MI. Why do we talk about Rohit Sharma, the captain more? The way he makes changes, the way he handles his bowlers and crunch situations, that is very important,” Pragyan Ojha told Sports Today.
MI to filed first
Mumbai Indians are on top of the IPL 2020 points table but yet to enter the playoffs followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore at 2nd spot. Both teams are tied on 14 points with Royal Challengers Bangalore. The 4-time champions are ahead because of their superior Net Run Rate. Today’s match at Abu Dhabi is much significant as the winner will go to the top four with 16 points.
Kieron Pollard won the toss and decided to filed first. He informed that Mumbai Indians will play with an unchanged team. “We will field first. Hopefully we will see what happens but we have to come out and play good cricket. In the last game 190 odd was chased down, and don’t think it would change much and hopefully we can chase it down later on. We are playing the same team.”
