Ness Wadia on daily testing during IPL 2020
Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia on Friday said that strict protocols must be executed to save everyone associated with IPL 2020 from the threat of the COVID-19. Once the chairman of IPL Governing Council Brijesh Patel announced the final dates of IPL 2020, discussions started over the most anticipated cricket event of this year. The franchises are now waiting to receive the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines from the board. Ness Wadia speaking on the same said, “Strict safety protocols have to be put in place both for off-field and on-field activities to make the IPL safe and successful. They should not be compromised at all.”
He told PTI that as much testing as possible should be done and he would not mind daily testing as well. “I would want as much testing as possible and preferably daily. If I was a cricketer, I would be very happy in getting myself tested everyday. There is no harm in it.” Ness Wadia also advocated the idea of setting up bio-secure arrangement for IPL 2020 and according to him the BCCI should seriously think about it. He opined, “UAE also has a very high testing rate (472,575 per million) and they have all the technology at their disposal. The BCCI will need the help of local government in ensuring adequate testing is done.”
