RCB CaptainĀ Virat Kohli is taking COVID-19 protocols very seriously. He clearly gave a warning to his teammates regarding breaching the mentioned protocols. He also added that he wants all to be on the same page.
First virtual meeting of RCB
The IPL 2020āis set to begin next month in the UAE amid the pandemic scare. To safeguard the health of everyone associated with the organizing country along with the host country is planning out a series of precautionary measures that need to be maintained throughout the tournament. As a part of that, the players will be placed under a bio-secure bubble for the entire duration of the tournament. While speaking about these guidelines, Virat Kohli, the RCB captain said, āWe have followed whatās been told to us and I would expect everyone to be on the same page in terms of securing the bubble at all times and making sure that nothing is compromised. Because I think one mistake by any one of us could literally spoil the whole tournament.ā
Kohli continued, āAnd none of us want to do that. We have to understand that we need to protect the bubble.ā
Consequences of breaching contract
During the first virtual meeting of the team, captain Kohli also asked the director of cricket operations Mike Hesson to brief the consequences of breaking the protocols. Hesson explained, āIf there is a breach of the bubble, and it is a wilful issue, then it becomes a contractual issue between the player and RCB. It will be dealt with seriously.ā He further added that in case of accidental breach the players have to be sent into isolation for seven days and tested again before allowing them to join the team. āFor accidental breach, players will be removed and sent into isolation for seven days and then come back only after he tests negative to be allowed to be back in the bubble again. There will be strong consequences if players chose to do that (violate protocols). Players will sign a document that explains the consequences.ā

Kohli then went on to give a pep talk remining about the team spirit. āIf someone ends up in a situation like this, for me thatās letting the whole team down. It might happen in a situation where the team cannot afford to lose the player. And if he does so, and we get harmed by it, the whole team, the whole system, the whole culture loses. I wanted to talk about it so that everyone understands the repercussions that might take place if we violate any of the rules.ā
