IPL 2020: Things to Watch Out for RCB vs MI Match

Tomorrow IPL 2020 will see the battle of titans as Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on each other. The clash will be high voltage as both teams are led by Indian batting giants.

Rohit Sharma’s form

Rohit Sharma after failing in Mumbai Indians’ match against Chennai Super Kings came back with a bang against Kolkata Knight Riders. It was his 80 off 54 balls that paved the way for the first win of Mumbai Indians. His man-of-the-match performance saw him smashing three boundaries and six maximums with a strike rate of 148.18 against the likes of Pat Cummins. Whether Rohit Sharma can continue with his good form that will be a focus point for Mumbai Indians. This won’t be easy albeit against Yuzvendra Chahal. If the defending champions want to have a successful captain, the skipper’s form has to be consistent enough.

Pandya’s full utilization

Hardik Pandya looked in good touch while batting in the first two Mumbai Indians’ fixtures. But Pandya has not bowled yet on any occasion of the league so far. Although there has not been any kind of official revelation as such, the head coach of Mumbai Indians mentioned that Pandya is not 100% match-fit and hence the side does not want to take chances with his bowling. Since Pandya’s all-round service is not available at moment, the management can think of utilizing him up at the order to make the most of the pinch hitter.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is taking time to get back to his full glory. Royal Challengers Bangalore already played their two games of the season without any contribution from Kohli, the player as such. Moreover, he dropped Kings XI Punjab’s highest run-scorer KL Rahul twice last time out who ended up scoring a big unbeaten century. Kohli is already under the scanner after these massacres. The way the Bangalore team surrendered the last time added to the wounds. How Kohli performs this will be highly in focus. Kohli himself would love to play a good knock to bring the back team to the winning ways.

Pace unit of RCB

The pacing unit of Royal Challengers Bangalore has disappointed against Kings Xi Punjab. None of them could contain the KXIP batsmen. It was Yuzvendra Chahal who continued to amaze and conceded only 25 runs in his four overs taking one wicket. The next best bowler of the pack was Washington Sundar who bowled two overs and gave away 13 runs. Apart from these two nobody was economical and hit for huge shots. What if Chahal fails on a given day? RCB management must think and work on it.
