According to a Sports Today report, the IPL 2021 is likely to resume on September 19 and run for the next one month in the UAE. This has been informed by Boria Majumder during his YouTube show for Sports Today.
IPL 2021 to resume soon
Indian Premier League 2021 is going to begin on September 19 or September 20 and will last till October 10 as per a Sports Today report. The UAE will be hosting the remaining 31 matches of Indian Premier League. It will be split into 10 double headers, 7 single headers and 4 playoffs and expected to be fit into the 21-day window the Indian cricket board is looking at the ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.
“There is tremendous intent from all stakeholders to complete the IPL, boards are being spoken to. Franchise owners, CEOs have confirmed this news to us. BCCI officials have confirmed off the record,” sports journalist Boria Majumdar said in his YouTube show for Sports Today. He continued, “The BCCI will not ask ECB to change dates for the India-England series. The tour ends on September 14.”
Challenges ahead of BCCI
The players, reportedly will be transferred to a bubble from another after the England tour, and quarantine in UAE for three days. As per the report, the Caribbean Premier League, will be also adjusted which is scheduled to be run between August 28 to September 19. The BCCI will request for the CPL to be finished four-five days in advance, around the same time India tour of England ends. The players involved in CPL will also go through the same transfer process.
The board however will have a lot of challenges to deal with. There are multiple bilateral series planned around that time which is why the BCCI is in talks with the other boards to negotiate and sort out things. Although there is no confirmation regarding the IPL 2021 venue yet, it is likely to be held in UAE.
