IPL 2021: Rishab Pant Talks About His feelings to toss alongside Dhoni

Rishabh Pant will be debuting as IPL captain today with the match against Chennai Super Kings. While he will be leading the runners-up of last season, Delhi Capitals, the CSK led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni ended in 7th position last time. Pant, ahead of the big match spoke about his feelings to toss alongside Dhoni in the first match as IPL captain.

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Delhi Capitals got injured during the recent ODI series against England. Delhi Capitals decided to trust the young Rishabh Pant with the responsibility. Pant will be debuting as an IPL captain and the match is against Chennai Super Kings. Ahead of the game, Pant spoke about the new role.

“I have been talking to the senior players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ajinkya Rahane about the fields we can set and other strategic decisions for the team. I have been talking to Ricky and our bowling coach James Hopes as well. There’s a good mix of seniors and juniors in our squad and I think with the help of Ricky, we can do something different this year,” the skipper said.

Pant on Dhoni

Pant’s Delhi Capitals will be favourites this time after their last IPL performance. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand will be targeting a strong comeback under the leader Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Pant talked about walking out for the toss with former Indian cricket team captain. Pant recalled whatever he learnt from the veteran and said that he would try to use those experience.
“It will be extra special to walk out for the toss with MS Dhoni tomorrow. This will be the first time that I will be leading an IPL team and the first match is against Mahi Bhai. I have learned a lot from him, and I have gained a lot of experience from him. Hopefully, I can use this experience against him, and we can win this match. That’s what I am looking forward to,” Pant said as quoted by Times Now.
