IPL 2024 Purple Cap: Updated After Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giants Match No 64

Another day closer to the play-off and another thrilling match showcased. On the 64th clash of the IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants faced each other at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The match was crucial for the qualifying scenario of both teams. They showcased their characters. Some bowling performances became the highlights of the match and those brought some interesting changes to the Purple Cap list. 

Lucknow’s Bowling Struggle:

The match was extremely crucial for both teams. After winning the toss, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first. While bowling first, Arshad Khan dismissed Jake Fraser McGurk in the very first over. That was a big breakthrough. After that, they need to wait for long to get the second wicket. Sai Hope and Abhishe Porel were making a great partnership but Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Hope and broke the partnership. 

After skipper Pant joined Porel, the duo was smashing biggies. But Naveen ul Haq who came to bowl in the 12th over, dismissed Abhishek Porel in 58 runs. He also dismissed Rishabh Pant in 33 runs. Other than them, the other bowlers failed to make an impact in the game. Delhi Capitals set a target of 209 runs to them. 

Delhi’s Fine Bowling Display:

While bowling in the second innings, Delhi Capitals showcased their bowling excellence once again. Since the beginning, they have been dominating. Veteran bowler Ishant Sharma shined the brightest. In this 4-over spell, he conceded 34 runs and secured three wickets. That spell boosts DC’s domination to another level. The other bowlers were also exceptions with their performances.

Along with Ishant, the other bowlers kept creating pressure on the opponent. In 4 overs, Mukesh Kumar conceded 33 runs and secured 2 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav conceded 33 runs in 4 overs and secured 1 wicket. Khaleel Ahmed, Axar Patel, and Tristan Stubbs got one wicket each. They restricted the opponent to 189 runs and won the match by 19 runs.
