IPL 2024 Purple Cap: Updated After Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants Match No 67

Another successful season of the IPL has almost come to an end. In the last match of the season, Mumbai Indians faced Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams gave their best to conquer the game. As a result of that, the match has seen some incredible performances and those impacted the Purple Cap table. 

Mumbai’s Bowling Performance:

After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first. Since the beginning, they have started showcasing their excellence. Nuwan Thushara dismissed Devdutt Padikkal on the third delivery of the first over. That was an early setback. After Piyush Chawla came to attack, he dismissed Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda initially. 

Mumbai Indians created an early pressure on the opponent. After that, KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran were making an excellent partnership. But Nuwan Thusara broke it by dismissing Pooran. Thusara ended up taking 3 wickets in 28 runs. And Piyush Chawla secured 3 wickets in 29 runs. They restricted LSG to 214 runs. 

LSG’s Remarkable Bowling Effort:

In the previous few matches, Lucknow Super Giants struggled with their form. But in their last match in this season, they have showcased their bowling display. Initially, they struggled to stop Mumbai Indians’ opening partnership. But Naveen ul Haq got the first breakthrough and dismissed Dewald Brevis in 23 runs. After that, Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed by Krunal Pandya. Rohit Sharma was going well but Ravi Bishnoi stopped him. He dismissed Rohit on 68 runs.

When Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya was on 16 runs, Mohsin Khan dismissed him with a dominating display. The Lucknow Super Giants bowlers showed their excellence. Naveen ul Haq and Ravi Bishnoi both ended up taking 2 wickets each. Krunal Pandya and Mohsin Khan got one each. They stopped Mumbai on 196 runs and won the match by 18 runs.
