IPL 2024 Purple Cap: Updated After PBKS vs CSK and LSG vs KKR Match No. 53 and 54

Sunday delivered double excitement with two blockbuster matches. First, Chennai Super Kings clashed with Punjab Kings in Dharamsala. Later, the night heated up with the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants. Both fixtures witnessed thrilling bowling performances that shook up the Purple Cap table.

Amazing Bowling Performances by Chennai and Punjab:

In the first match, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings locked horns at Dharamsala. After winning the toss, Punjab Kings opted to bowl first and showcased some brilliant performances. Arshdeep Singh got the first breakthrough as he dismissed Ajiyanka Rahane. Rahul Chahar broke the partnership of Gaikwad and Mitchell. Chahar bowled brilliantly as he ended up his spell with 3 wickets in 23 runs. Harshal Patel also picked 3 wickets in 24 runs. They restricted them on 167 runs. 

Chennai’s domination turned the match on its way. Tushar Deshpande secured two crucial wickets initially which put pressure on the opponent. Mitchell Santner dismissed Shashank Singh on 27 runs. In that match, Ravindra Jadeja took 3 crucial wickets in 20 runs. Simarjeet Singh took 2 wickets in 16 runs. Their excellent dominance earned an awaited win by 28 runs. 

LSG’s Bowling Struggle But KKR’s Brilliance:

In the second clash, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns. The Lucknow crowd experienced another thrilling match. After winning the toss, Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul decided to bowl first. While bowling first, they have to wait for the first wicket. Naveen ul Haq got the first success for the team as he dismissed Phil Salt. the Afghan bowlers played exceptionally well. He picked up 3 wickets in 49 runs. Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, and Yudhvir Singh got 1 wicket each. But they couldn’t dominate the KKR batters as they scored 235 runs.

After dominating in while batting, they kept their domination alive in their bowling. They didn’t let the Lucknow batters play impactful innings. Varun Charkravarthy and Harshit Rana shattered LSG’s innings. Both secured three wickets each. That was a huge blow for Lucknow. Andre Russell secured another two crucial wickets in just 17 runs. Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine took 1 wicket each. With that exceptional domination by a massive 98 runs.
