IPL 2024 Purple Cap: Updated After Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals Match No. 50

The IPL 2024 completed 50 matches this season. On May 2, Sunrisers Hyderabad faced Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. From the beginning till the end, the match witnessed some exciting bowling efforts as it impacted the Purple Cap list. 

Royal’s Bowling Effort:

While bowling in the first innings, the Rajasthan Royals bowlers gave a dominating start. In the fifth over, Avesh Khan dismissed SRH opener Abhishek Sharma. After that, RR bowler Sandeep Sharma dismissed Anmolpreet Singh on 5 runs. In the 6th over, Hyderabad was 35/2, they took control of the game. But the scenario changed when RR slowly lost their bowling control. 

Trent Boult and Ravichandran Ashwin remained wicketless in the game. Ashwin conceded 36 runs in 4 overs. Boult conceded 33 runs in 4 overs.  Avesh Khan took 2 wickets in 39 runs. Sandeep Sharma took 1 wicket in 31 runs. But Yuzvendra Chahal’s spell was disappointing. In four overs, he conceded 62 runs in 4 overs and they remained wicketless. That cost the first innings. They stopped Hyderabad on 201 runs. 

Hyderabad’s Amazing Bowling Prowess:

While bowling in the second innings, Hyderabad gave an amazing start. Bhubaneswar Kumar picked up two early wickets. After that, they had to wait long for the third breakthrough. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag made an amazing partnership. But T. Natarajan made the partnership and dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Then skipper Pat Cummins came to showcase excellence. He dismissed Riyan Parag. That was a crucial turn. T. Natarajan struck once again as he dismissed Shimron Hetmyer. Then, Cummins picked another wicket while dismissing Dhruv Jurel. The match got intense from here. Powell was going well and Ashwin joined him. In the last delivery, they needed 2 runs. In that last delivery, Bhubaneswar Kumar dismissed Rowman Powell and registered a narrow win of 1 run.
