IPL Points Table 2023: Updated After DC vs GT Match 7

Gujarat Titans have continued their legacy of the last season as the team completed a comfortable victory against Delhi Capitals to register 2 wins in 2 games. The team’s captain, Hardik Pandya, won the toss for the second time in a row and decided to bowl first.

Having called into bat first, DC never looked in control of the game. Wickets fell at regular intervals for the team with none of the batters making it big. As a result, the team faltered but still managed to get to a respectable total of 162 runs in 20 overs for a loss of 8 wickets. David Warner was the highest scorer for the team with 37 runs to his name. Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Alzarri Joseph shared all 8 wickets between them. Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami picked up 3 wickets each while Alzarri Joseph picked up 2.

In response, Gujarat had a shaky start as they lost both their openers early. When team captain Hardik Pandya also fell inside the powerplay, it seemed Gujarat may fall short of the chase. However, Sai Sudarshan anchored the innings to steer Gujarat comfortably home. Gujarat chased the score with 6 wickets and 11 balls to spare.

With this win, Gujarat Titans have taken the top spot on the points table. Rajasthan Royals have slipped to the second and Royal Challengers Bangalore to the third. Despite the loss, Delhi Capitals have gone up a place, from number 9 to number 8 as they have a better Net Run Rate (NRR) than Mumbai Indians.
